Welcome to the Corrandulla Show!
Corrandulla Show is one of the biggest and most popular Agricultural Shows in the country, attracting over 10,000 people to the village on the fourth Sunday of June each year. Corrandulla is a prime example of a modern country show. As well as the regular show activities, this expansive show provides free Children’s entertainment kindly sponsored by ECC Timber Products, an extensive selection of Market Stalls, a Fun fair and lots of other novelties for young and old alike. All the entertainment takes place in the main field, adjacent to the hall where there will be a running commentary throughout the day keeping you informed of all the main events and attractions, while a big screen will be provided for those interested in watching the GAA games. One of the most exciting, recent additions to the show had to be the Leonard Catering sponsored Music Marquee. The marquee promises to be full to the brim all day with dancers and music lovers alike. While in this area don’t miss the Market Stalls where the best of locally produced food and crafts will be showcased, while the ever-popular O’Connell’s Pharmacy sponsored Dog Show is a must-see. Visit the hall to see a wonderful display of all types of “Baking & Arts & Craft Classes.” Here you will find a vast array of competitions for the “nimble fingered” and “green fingered,” young and old alike. The Bonny Baby show as well as the Little Miss and Little Mister competitions will also take place in the hall. The Cattle Showing section of the show continues to grow and now includes Friesian and Aberdeen Angus Classes. The popular Nutrias Baby Beef Competition has been a great addition; it has a prize fund of €1000 and is expected to draw top-class cattle from all over. Lucky Day Competitions are proud sponsors of the Commercial Cattle Championship, while ECC Timber Products kindly sponsor the Pedigree Cattle Championship, with a total prize fund of €1000 each. There will be an extensive Sheep Show again this year with classes for most popular breeds, as well as a Young Handlers class and a class for a “Fancy Dressed Pet Lamb with a Bottle.” And don’t miss the Poultry; there are classes for every breed known to man. These will be on display near the cattle section. Egg Classes are a new addition and can also be found in the poultry tent. The much-loved Pet classes which are so popular with little children are also in the Poultry Tent. Connemara Pony classes are always well supported, while the Ridden Connemara and Open Ridden classes are hugely popular. Also, back by popular demand are the Irish Draft and Non-Thoroughbred Mare and Foal classes. In Show Jumping, the Kenny Motors sponsored Connacht Grand Prix is always a big attraction and to add to the fun a Puissance was added last year, otherwise known as the “High Wall.” It was a great spectacle and is kindly sponsored by Harrington Concrete again this year. Show Jumping starts at 9am so there will be lots of action in this area throughout the day. Corrandulla is blessed with its free draining, limestone land and doubly blessed with its generous landowners who give the show free reign to have the grounds in tip-top shape, perfect for show jumping. Corrandulla Show is a great community initiative and a most rewarding event to be associated with. New sponsors and volunteers are always welcome. Admission to the Show is €15 per person and accompanied children are free. Admission for O.A.Ps and Students is €5 per person.
